Advantages of motion controller:
(1) The hardware composition is simple. Simply insert the motion controller into the PC bus and connect the signal lines to form the system;
(2) You can use the rich software already available on the PC for development;
(3) The code universality and portability of motion control software are good;
(4) There are many engineering personnel who can carry out development work and do not require too much training to proceed with development.
Disadvantages of motion controllers:
(1) The motion controller with a board structure adopts a gold finger connection and is fixed on one side, which is not suitable for long-term operation in most industrial sites with poor environmental conditions (severe vibration, dust, and oil pollution).
(2) Waste of PC resources. Due to the bundled sales of PCs, users actually only use a small portion of PC resources. Unused PC resources not only cause idle and waste, but also bring maintenance troubles.
(3) The overall reliability is difficult to guarantee, as the PC can be either an industrial computer or a commercial computer. After system integration, there is a significant difference in reliability that cannot be guaranteed by the motion controller.
(4) Difficult to highlight industry characteristics.
